Smoke detectors are becoming mandatory in the Netherlands starting on July 1, 2022.

It will be mandatory to mount a smoke alarm on every floor of your house in the Netherlands from 1 July 2022.

The building decree will change, making it a legal obligation to comply with this. The new rules apply to both privately owned and rented properties.

Everyone is self responsible to take care of the purchasing and installation of the smoke detectors by July 1st, 2022.

Smoke detectors have to be installed always on the ceiling.

There needs to be at least one smoke detector installed on each floor and also one per enclosed space in which an escape route passes.

That gives everyone a good time to prepare for the changes.

It is recommended to get a high-quality, long-lasting smoke detector.

In principle, an alarm containing batteries is sufficient. However, it is not recommended to purchase an alarm with a battery that needs replacing each year. It is better to purchase a smoke alarm with a battery life of 10 years

ANKA smoke detectors are tested and certified in the EU and are fully compliant with the new regulations.
